FILMAC Report: Findings and recommendations for the development of the film sector in Central Africa

The "ACP-EU Culture Programme – Créer en Afrique Centrale" (CAC) and "CLAP ACP 2" jointly organised the FILMAC seminar from 29 April to 1 May 2022 to discuss a road map to create a financial support mechanism for Central African filmmakers. The seminar’s report is now available.

The report presents an analysis of the needs for a sustainable development of the film sector including innovative mechanisms to finance the production of films and series in Central Africa. It also provides a roadmap for action to be presented at the meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) that will be held in Kinshasa in October 2022.

The report is the outcome of the work done during the FILMAC seminar by 80 film professionals from 10 Central African countries (Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Chad and Angola); representatives of the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC) and the African Development Bank (ADB); as well as representatives of European cooperation agencies (Germany, Belgium, France and Switzerland).

The executive summary of the seminar is available here.
