The SouthMed WiA project, coordinated by Interarts and co-funded by the European Union in the framework of the MedFilm programme, is coming to an end and concludes with a reflection summarised in a short documentary film.
Based on interviews with women professionals in the audiovisual sector and produced by our project partner ESAC, “Recto/Verso” highlights the situation of women working in this sector in the southern Mediterranean. It illustrates the existing stereotypes that determine conditions of inequality and unbalance between the real capacities of women and the reality within the profession, especially in the academic and work environment.
SouthMed WiA has contributed in advancing gender equality and equal opportunities for women in the audio-visual sector in countries like Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.
