"Resetting the Stage'': Dragan Klaić's Posthumous Book

The last work by Dr. Dragan Klaić, an expert in contemporary performing arts and European cultural policies, among other fields, who passed away in 2011, has been published. "Resetting the Stage. Public Theatre Between the Market and Democracy" emerges when public theatre has suffered sharp reductions in government subsidies and commercial theatre is thriving across Europe. At a time when the public theatre must demonstrate its continued merit, Klaić argues that, in an increasingly crowded market of cultural goods, public theatre is best served not by imitating its much larger commercial counterpart, but by asserting its artistic distinctiveness and the considerable benefit that this confers on the public. The book is available on Intellect Publisher’s website.
