FOMECC Senegal Closing Session

The project Promotion of Cultural and Creative Industries in Senegal FOMECC Senegal, developed by Interarts and the Association des Métiers de la Musique du Senegal (AMS), has reached the end of its current phase. On 20 December the closing event was held in the Douta Seck House of Culture, with the participation of Abdoulaye Koundoul, director of FOMECC Senegal; Maria Casas, Interarts' coordinator in West Africa; Daniel Gómez, AMS vice-president; Alioune Badiane, former Arts director on behalf of the Ministry of Culture of Senegal; and Hamidou Dia, cultural advisor to the President of the Republic. Among the results of the programme, a documentary about the project and a study on the cultural sector in the cities of Dakar, Thies and Louga were presented. The event also included a discussion on cultural businesses and the presentation and promotion of artists who have participated in the project through an exhibition space represented by Rmiang, Mbin Maak, Zhu Culture, Fdeco, Bassari Ingali, Aca, Docta, Ndeye Yacine Ndiaye, Africulturban and Manjacku; and concerts by Daniel Oriazul, Saintrick et les tchellys, Iba Gaye Massar and Fagasu Band, among others closed the day. FOMECC Senegal is part of the FOMECC Programme developed by Interarts in several countries and regions, in collaboration with local partners and the support of the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID).
