Publication of a Report on the Contribution of Culture to the Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals

In 2012, the MDG Achievement Fund (MDG-F), which fosters the implementation of innovative programmes in order to help advance the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) worldwide, commissioned a set of thematic reports to describe the achievements of its programmes in different areas. The thematic study on 'Culture and Development', written by Interarts' Project Coordinator Jordi Baltà, has recently been published on the MDG-F's website. The text examines developments in 18 countries and describes the impact of cultural projects in a number of development areas, including poverty reduction, improvement of education and health, environmental sustainability, strengthening of cultural capacity and governance. Thematic studies in 7 other fields and additional evidence are also available on the MDG-F's website.
