Participation in the ASEF Experts' Meeting on the Creative Economy

On 4-5 December, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), in partnership with the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam, organised an Experts' Meeting entitled 'Creative Economy in Asia and Europe: Emerging Pillar of Economic Growth & Development', which was held in Hanoi, Viet Nam. The event served to prepare the Asia-Europe Meeting of Ministers of Culture which will be held in the Netherlands in October 2014, and which will focus on the creative economy. On the occasion of the meeting, the government of Viet Nam also presented its draft National Strategy for the Development of Cultural Industries, whereas IFACCA introduced the national cultural policy profiles of South Korea, India and Viet Nam, which have been produced in the context of WorldCP, the International Database of Cultural Policies. Jordi Baltà, project coordinator at Interarts, attended the meeting, where he chaired a panel on trends and challenges in the development of the creative economy and took part in another session on good practices regarding the role of the creative economy in development.
