Music and broadcasting sector of Medellin mission to Barcelona

As part of the project "FomeccBiz Medellin-Barcelona: generating a cultural and creative business network for local development. Phase II", from 30 November to 5 December, a "Trade and knowledge mission of entrepreneurs and musicians from Medellin to Barcelona" took place. The aims were to build partnerships between cultural agents from both cities, showcase Medellin´s culture, act as a driver for Colombian goods and services on the Catalan and Spanish markets, and push forward thinking on local initiatives for cultural entrepreneurship, especially music, and investment in cultural products and services. Four representatives of Medellin´s music and broadcasting sector took part, in addition to strategic cultural agents, mainly producers, from Barcelona. The mission included a "meeting among music industry and transmedia professionals from Barcelona and Medellin" on 1 December, at which cultural and creative agents from Barcelona and Medellin shared experiences and proposals and began to forge future professional collaborations. The participants included representatives of associate bodies AVA (Broadcasting, Video Games and Animation Association) and Gestar Cultural from Medellin; international experts Xavier Capellas and Toni Marin; musician Carlos Andrés Giraldo and the band Autor Anónimo, which presented along with AVA and Gestar Cultural the co-creation transmedia project "Medellin, a story to hear", developed as part of this project. The day concluded with a panel discussion which gave the audience, who were mainly sector professionals from Barcelona, the opportunity to discuss some of the issues addressed with the associates. The mission report and the meeting report are already available. "FomeccBiz Medellin-Barcelona: generating a cultural and creative business network for local development. Phase II" is run by Interarts and the Faculty of Arts at the University of Antioquia with the support of Barcelona City Council´s "Barcelona Solidarity 2014" programme.
