FOMECC Senegal: Activities in Kaolack, Louga and Saint Louis

In December FOMECC Senegal developed a range of awareness-raising and training activities beyond its office in Dakar. On 8-9 December, communication sessions and training workshops were held in Kaolack, thanks to the collaboration of the local Regional Cultural Centre. Around 60 local creators attended the sessions, led by Luc Mayitoukou i Youma Fall, FOMECC Senegal's coordinator and external relations and media officer respectively, and Ndéye Ndécka Sagne, director of the Kaolack Cultural Centre. From 27 to 29 December, in St.Louis and Louga, the FOMECC Senegal project organized several workshop to reinforce the situation of local creators and cultural entrepreneurs and strengthen their professionalization. In three days, 50 entrepreneurs received training on issues such as tourism and cultural industries, oral, literary publishing and ICT market, performance market, public support and sponsorship, etc. In the framework of the St.Louis’ workshop, a collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Culture of Senegal and the project was signed, with the objective to work together in order to strengthen the capacities of Senegalese cultural agents. Students could enjoy the presence of Mrs. Awa Ndiaye, Senegalese Minister of Culture, who highlighted the FOMECC program’s and the Spanish cooperation‘s efforts in the area of culture and development, as well as announced the date of the next Festival National des Arts et de la Cultura (FESNAC), which will take place from 25 to 28 January 2012, in St.Louis.
