Boosting Latin American cultural industries in MICSUR 2016

The Southern Cultural Industries Market-MICSUR 2016 took place in Bogota, Colombia from 17 to 20 October. The event brought together 3,000 participants including artists, professionals and specialised suppliers from ten Latin American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The event proved successful in its endeavour to strengthen the sector by giving stakeholders a place to showcase their services and products and network with professionals from other geographical areas, and included a business conference, presentations, forums, sectorial talks, workshops, institutional meetings, a trade fair, and more. Interarts contributes to the development of the cultural and creative sector in Latin America, both through its Promotion of Cultural and Creative Industries Programme (FOMECC), which has so far ran in Colombia, Honduras and Peru, and the project ´Culture and arts supporting social cohesion in Latin American cities (LAIC)´. As part of the latter initiative, Interarts and Bozar are jointly holding the UrbanLab workshop from 15 to 19 November 2016 in Medellin, Colombia.
